Christina Eustace Wal-Mart Videos -- Greg Vail Sax and EWI

Christina Eustace Wal-Mart Videos -- Greg Vail Sax and EWI

I did a session a few months ago for a very talented, up and coming Latina - Christina Eustace!

Christina - a Star in the Making

This girl can sing!! She is really sweet too! And she had an amazing band hired for this live video session for Walmart Spanish/Latin division. This link goes to the Wal-Mart site since the clips are not available anywhere else on the web.

After the deodorant commercial you see the Tenor Sax track that got me the gig in the first place. Very nice feature for the Tenor!! I loved playing it and loved the interaction Christina and I had. When she looks to her right, it is me over there. HAHA! The camera angles are tight enough that you don't really see much of the interaction. Very cool clip. Wish I could post it, but a link will have to do.

After the Sax track there are 2 EWI tracks - First track was midi to the Yamaha VLM70 French Horns - second was to the VLM70 for a Cello patch. The mix on these tracks is kinda lame but you can check out a little of the EWI vibe in a live - section setting.

You can click the image above for more pictures from that session on my FLICKr picture account.

CHECK OUT THE CLIPS HERE - http://soundcheck.walmart.com/acceso-total/cristina
30 second commercial - Christiana intro and 3 video clips of Julio All Star Band - Greg Vail Sax and EWI
The clips continue with Christina Eustace 's traditional Mexican music with the full wind band too.....

For more on the EWI - See the NEW EWI Site - www.newEWI.com - pictures, sound clips and video - more to come.

Thanks for dropping in.......

Session time - Summer is around the corner...

What a week this ended up being! I had the worst scheduled week in a decade on the books, and God was good - again!

I ended up with a nice variety of recording sessions and ended up making some good money for the week! I first recorded the walk off music for a new fireworks show for Bush Gardens - fun alto sax solo, high energy vibe! Was fun and real orchestra made it real special!!

I then had a session with Rivers Cuomo from the rock band Weezer out in Santa Monica CA. It was nice to get to hang a bit with Rivers and talk to him about the business and the web for musicians. I was surprised that he does all that stuff online like I do! He was on the web the whole time I saw him, listening but also reading and responding. It was nice to see I am not the only one buried in web activity and trying to stay connected!

We tracked Flute lines, fills and a little pad choir of Flutes on 1 new song! The producer had some really cool ideas and I hope the stuff makes it up on the track! The last time I did a Rivers call it was the end of 09 and a cool but strange hang....

Here is the Video I did with Rivers and J D '09

JD did his thing and taped the day too - the unofficial

The next session was replacing orchestra parts for a musical, recorded live for DVD. I was brought in to replace the Clarinet and Flute parts and it was challenging for me since I have not been practicing enough classical legit style music to feel really on for this type of session. I hope Tony got what he needed. I was tired….

The next day I was off the Laguna Beach to track some jazz standards for a local artist. I don’t remember if it was 4 or 5 tunes but we did have 1 section track to hit – all Tenor Saxes! I think it turned out pretty cool too!!

AS always – I am most excited about variety and I got a ton of it this week. From Pop Orchestra to Rock Band, from Musicals to Jazz Standards. I love a week of variety and challenge and I got a good one this week!!

On the schedule upcoming – South Dakota Church gig and workshops – Summer band gigs have me reworking the song books again – Spring web site updates have been ongoing – New EWI dotcom – Gospel Jazz CDs dotcom – Church Saxophone dotcom – Sax Love Songs dotcom – and fixing bad links thru a few other sites - GOOGLE AdSense and GOOGLE Analytics are working together nicely and being worked thru these sites as I go thru everything….

Good stuff – long overdue work – all setting up for a great summer 2010!!!!

MAY 13 2010 Updates - crazy times are had by all....

Hey! Greg Vail - AKA SAXBOY here.

Ness, Dad and Ben VailHave been buried with life stuff this week.

I know many of us are pretty under the gun on finance these days – not really making it at all! I also know from real life experience that, often the fall out of  things working out bad can be felt after the fact by a good amount of time. Credit Cards you might have used to pull thru a tight month or two; a friend you owe a couple of hundred bucks to; taxes you let slide; repairs on the house or car maintenance can wait but for how long? Then it all piles up in your face and you have a reality check that is bouncing….

Awe the joys of this life……

I have so many friends that are in real trouble now. They made it through for a while but now it is all catching up. Some of my friends went down right when the economy took a hit. Some had savings or decent job sustain until now – but now seems to be a big problem for us all.

This last 2 weeks has been a time of reassessing and change. I have been forced to put everything on the table and let the cards fall as they may. For instance, I spent 2 hours on the phone today with phone companies reviewing plans and cutting some services. I let 1 health club go and saved a total of $76.00 a month cutting 3 bills down.

I have started being very active with an accident settlement I have let slide as I healed up too. I have begun my consistent barrage of nice yet thorough communications with Farmers Insurance and I started seeing results once the adjustor realized something had changed. I really needed to just feel better to be up for the fight and will say I feel better now – let’s get this done!

I did something I have not done in years yesterday. I waxed my SUV with a friend. I was reminded why 100 bucks is not that much for a wax and detail job by sunset! I have felt the pain all day today. My SUV is big and tall and I think I’m getting too old to hang off a back seat reaching for the middle of the roof to wipe off wax! A step stool would have been amazing!!

I am getting my 04 Denali ready to sell. I am not very happy about that and it is possible it will still be my Denali a year from now; but I did make that decision and my truck looks great!! When I get it listed I will post! I still need to finish the steam cleaning inside and get pictures to post it, but it will go online this weekend! I am thinking around $18,000 for the top of the line, fully loaded with every factory toy available. They run over 60k new!!

My BabyI will also be re-listing my beloved 1962 Impala next week. 11K is the asking price and lots of pics are here….

Am I doing terrible?? NO! But, like most of my world I am very busy, busier than ever and making almost half of the money I was 3 years ago! …and it is starting to catch up.

I was just blessed with a bunch of new session calls this week. I recorded a track for a Bush Gardens fireworks show yesterday, and have 2 sessions tomorrow. I will be playing some Flute again for Weezer in the morning, and then heading over to Tony Guerrero's house to record Flute and Clarinet parts for his Christmas Musical DVD release. I then have a pop Tenor section session Saturday morning with another old friend for one of her recording clients!! 4 sessions in 1 week is great!! Used to be the norm, but in 2010?? GREAT!! BUT - also used to pay a lot more.... God is good and I am grateful!!

I have a long list of friends I am following and praying for these days. I hope we all see a positive change in our lives so we can work and make an honest wage again soon. Not looking for handouts! Just wish I could work hard AND cover the bills. I am very blessed with my awesome family too!

Blessings to the many that are 'here now'; and prayers for the many that wish they had these problems because they are small in comparison! Keep looking up!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
WANT TO WISH ALL FEMALES A HAPPY MOMS DAY!!
I have an amazing mother. She is not perfect. She is really amazing! AND I love my Mom!! I also have women in my life that are Momish saints. This is a term I made up from Amish (simple, sweet, make things work with nothing - no power tools required, spiritual) and Mom (female, parent, kid go to person, heart and soul of our planet, oven and birthing station for human beings) === Momish!

I have been blessed with a great, loving and supportive Mom. I have also been blessed with many women in my life I can go to for help, advice, support, listening and a good cry.

MOTHERS DAY works great when you have a great Mom and she is still with you. It also works great if you are married and have a great Mom for a wife. For many in my world, they have lost Mom, have a broken relationship with Mom or in 1 case, were totally abandoned by mom. BUT, everyone of them have Momish support and love somewhere in their life! Even when things don't work out the way they are supposed to AT ALL - there are still blessings to be found and people to thank

I want to encourage y'all to start with your Mom if it is an option - but not stop there! Think about those Momish people in your life and send them a note of love and thanks! You are blessed by them! Gratitude is an amazing way to not only thank them for this role, but encourage them in it! We all need one another and we all need at least Momish touches on occasion. (I like them more often than not!)

MAY 2010 - I dedicated my 'Sax Video Site - Featured Video on the Month' to Mom's - Go check it out!

SAXVIDEO.TV

I did some updating on the site last week and have a little more to do. This site is in my top 3 sites online now, doing 6,000 pages a week and hitting countries all over the world - really huge in India!!!

SO ~~~~ Thanks to my Mom!! Love you Mom!! And Thanks to the dozen Women that are there in loving Momish ways!! Hugs and Love to the Women in my life!!   <3 <3 <3

UPDATES for MAY 2010 - Ben Vail Zambia praise, Gigs - Work Schedule looks bad
I guess this is update time! Last post was a reminder about my Pro Flowers Rant from last year.

Earlier POST on the BIRD STORIES - I am more aware than usual and got a couple cool pics at work Sunday afternoon!

Humming Bird

Now for the good and bad for today....

I want to start with the good - or should I say AMAZING!!

I had a friend walk up to me and hand me a check Saturday night to go toward Ben Vail's Zambia trip. My son Ben is going to work at an Orphanage for the Summer and had to raise $6000.00 support to volunteer for Every Orphans Hope - a new Christian based ministry serving the Orphans of Africa and around the world.

I folded the check and stuck it in my pocket, thanking my friend for the support. I didn't look at it because that's what musicians do; we look later. Well, I was at Church working and kind of forgot till Sunday morning that it was in my pocket! I got online early Sunday and remembered I had a check for Ben, and almost fell over when I saw it!

$2,000.00 - TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!!

Ben was at about the half way mark needing 3k to raise before June 1st. We now have less than a thousand dollars to raise and it looks like Ben is on his way for sure! I am sooooooo excited for him!! He was soooooo blown away!

This process has been an exercise of Faith for both of us. Ben stepped out and made himself available to go into a very difficult situation and serve the orphans - a call all Christians have dictated in the Bible and one that every human being should feel the need from time to time and respond! Kids need our help! IT is THAT SIMPLE!

Ben has been trusting God that somehow the funds would be made available to go and help! That's a big faith for a kid with struggling parents in an economy that continues to get worse for us!!

As for me - A parents response is always wanting to let the kid do what they can do and then be able to say, "You did your best, Mom and Dad are going to pick up the rest!" NOT AN OPTION in 2010!! I have had to trust God as much as Ben for the money. knowing that I am not making rent or bills on time, lost another weekly job and DO NOT have the ability to "pick up the rest!"

That is a tough one. We all know - we want the best for our kids! Most of us are having to work in very small definitions of these words in out current world.

The outpouring of support and interest from so many has been amazing! The fact that we are so close is encouraging! The gift from my dear friends responding to God's direction is inspiring! God showing Ben how much He love's him and taking care of my boy is humbling! I was moved to tears and stand in total awe of how awesome God is and the difference he is making in us all! I am so grateful that He allows us to do our little part, and then He does the rest - over and over again!

I have to say - God has done amazing things for me more times than I could ever count! I have experienced that awesome awareness and humbling thanks sooooo many times in my life! BUT - The really amazing thing was seeing it happen for my son! This experience is way deeper than a 200 million dollar lottery ticket could be! As a Dad, I was moved beyond anything I have experienced thus far in my life!

To those that don't know HIM yet, I pray no offense is taken by a Dad's need to say GOD IS GOOD! HE BLOWS ME AWAY!!!!

I encourage you to drop into Ben's BLOG and follow the process thru funding and off to ZAMBIA! Ben Vail dotcom is my boy online. Follow Ben's story and maybe send him a not of encouragement! If you would like to be apart of the financial support - partner with Ben by giving. We only need 200 more people to give 5 dollars each!

In other economy related news - I just lost my Thursday gig and need more work that pays! I am trusting for my needs and asking for a little prayer and any ideas y'all might have as to work options I might have missed. Thanks!!

PRO FLOWERS - Watch your Credit Cards - Pro Flower's SUCK!
Hey web friends!

I want to start with a thought as Mother's Day is around the corner. I used Pro Flowers - the site that is ALL OVER THE WEB right now offering really great prices for flowers, last year. I did NOT have a good experience! My in box was buried with emails after the purchase and I just deleted them for a while until I saw a funny charge on my Credit Card. I called, then complained, then shut the card off, opening a new account with my bank. Pro Flower's does not have an OPT IN process. The simply added me to a program to get discounts all year with a membership fee to be apart of this club. I was told they ask you, but it is a "We have your Credit Card #" club that you HAVE TO SAY NO TO.

Hate to tell you, but OPT IN means I have the OPTION to be IN a discount club. Calling it OPT IN and adding me without my consent - against the law! Interesting point was when I called the bank to complain about the charges - THEY SAID THEY HAD MANY COMPLAINTS regarding PRO FLOWERS!! The chick KNEW what I was talking about and told me I was one of MANY THEY HAD JUST STARTED CHARGING FOR THIS STUPID CLUB THING!!!!!

PLEASE BE ADVISED - IF you saw all the ads, thought it looked really cool and ordered from PRO FLOWERS, you need to watch your Credit Card for more charges. The bank can only take of a few of the most recent charges and I had months gone by before I asked what that charge was for!!!

PRO FLOWERS - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Birds, they are everywhere.....

Kinda weird topic but I have had bird stories lately.

A month ago I was walking next to the Sanctuary at Saddleback Church and a little Humming Bird fell out of the sky right in front of me! I looked up and realized he had probably hit the glass and was knocked silly!

I wasn’t sure what to do but decided to have someone watch him for a minute and grabbed 2 church bulletins. I had heard you shouldn’t touch them so I used one bulletin to push him over on the other to get him out of the walkway.

Slowly I walked him over to a planter area and just as I started to bend down to place him on the ground, he got his other wing out from underneath him and slowly started flapping his wings until he flew off the bulletins and flew to the wall. He just hung there for a few minutes and then flew off! It was a pretty odd and kinda cool touch with nature.

I reflected on my new bird video I had just released on YouTube and thought – that was cool!!

Well, is happened again Thursday night at Simply Fondue – my Thursday gig. I was playing near a few windows and all of a sudden I heard a bash on the window that really startled me. It sounded like someone had thrown a hard ball at the window! It took me a minute to realize a bird had flown into the window and was lying on the ground outside.

I went out and we was not really moving but his beak and eyes where moving some. I went inside and got the manager and a couple came out to see. As I looked at him I saw the life leave his little body. It was strange. I kind of thought he would just get up and fly away like the Humming Bird did.

I have no idea if he was older but knew he was a lot bigger and he hit really hard. I realized he was probably the same bird I saw eating off the ground a few minutes earlier when I was playing. I saw a bird just outside the window and thought – cool!

It kinda made me sad the rest the night. It was weird.

I then got an email later that night with a series of pictures of a bird hit by a car and another bird – assumed its mate – trying to help. It was a sad story of loss and the other bird seemed to cry out over the loss. The pictures were moving, in and of themselves, but a little weird after seeing that poor bird die earlier that same day.

So Sunday I was at Saddleback on an outdoor bench behind the Sanctuary and I noticed a shadow on the wall in front of me. I looked up and directly above my head, about 4 feet up was a humming bird hovering over me. It was almost a full minute before he took off. It was totally beautiful to see a Humming Bird for that long and so close!

With all the bird stuff going on I have to wonder if that was the Humming Bird I saved earlier. I’m sure it sounds weird but I feel like the bird encounters have been very strange and pretty frequent! It seems like they are everywhere these days……

The Bible says God knows when even 1 sparrow falls, and if He cares for the flowers in the field and the birds of the air, How much more does He care about you! Totally has me thinking about that.......

Online and Business
Hey y'all! Greg Vail here and putting in really long days this week.

I have been attempting to let the entire world know about Ben going to Zambia and needing a little more financial aid from my online friends - AND - trying to spread the word about the American Smooth Jazz Awards and my little nomination that makes me happy!!

I have been posting and updating Socials with Ben's web address - http://www.benvail.com and working with him on communication and updates, links and all! He is doing a great job! (This is my son in whom I am very well pleased!!) Hit the link and see what Zambia is all about!!

Click the Image to go VOTE TODAY! The American Smooth Jazz Awards are open to VOTE thru July 15th, 2010! I was asked to make a few widget type - click-able images for my label to use to advertise the awards nomination and it takes me waaaaaayyyyy toooooooo long to do this stuff!!

This was the one I think I liked best! I sent Innervision all the image options and then realized I should post some too. I have been talking about the awards to people and on the Socials pretty heavy but had not done anything with my sites yet.

After the Photoshop lesson #4000 was over I started updating sites for the first time in AGES!

Sax Videos
Gospel Jazz CDs
Church Saxophone
Greg Vail dotcom
Alto Saxophone
Tenor Saxophone

SEE - Lots of sites updated this week! Ads can be seen on all the main entry pages on all these sites and I even added GOOGLE Ads on the Alto Sax Site with Custom Search thru my site network. I have been moving toward making money online after a decade of ignoring the concept! Ads have been added or updated to Sax Videos and Alto Saxophone sites.

The Alto Sax Site is really big and took hours to make a dozen changes on every page! Really glad I did though since it has been so long and I found stuff that needed fixing I have missed over the years!

So - it is really late and I have an early morning at Saddleback Church for services tomorrow morning! I need to get off this computer now! Thanks for dropping in!
