Sax Day again - Love it!

Today has been an interesting day! I was hired to test and review a new line of saxophones and spent most the day playing them. I called a sax friend and had him join me for the experience. We played them for each other and I made notes as to the performance of each sax.

Wayne Mestas is a long time friend and we have enjoyed saxophone hangs for years now. Last time was a Bari Sax day that I brought my Yamaha 62 Bari over to compare with the 3 bari saxes he has right now - a gold lacquered 52 he had Cryoed, a silver 62 and silver Selmer. We always have fun and today was no exception.

So - the saxes tested today - ALTO SAX - MacSax Empyreal Unlacquered - TENOR SAXES - MacSax Magnum Unlacquered, MacSax Mac 8 RTH Dark Lacquer, and Warburton Special Edition with the modular Ultimate Neck System. Really interesting instruments!!

I now have to create sample sound clips and clean up my notes on them. Always have fun when Saxophones are involved! Notes and MP3s will be delivered to MacSax and available at some point online for y'all to hear and see.

I also hit the record button early this morning on my new single - yet untitled. I did not want to bum anybody out so this first version of the basic track with melody is on EWI. I need to listen to it a bunch and decide how I want to play the melody first, then pick which saxophone and get a working track with the melody on it so we can work on the arrangement and orchestration. I am really excited about having new music to work on!

My other project right now is producing a few songs for a female vocalist/friend. It is always fun working on great performances and then taking it to production with some cool orchestration - adding Oboe and Cello and then some background vocals, then some supporting keyboards this weekend and into next. Still working on setting up my MAC with the best layout, drives, and power to hit these tracks big and hard.

Off to record saxophones now for the MacSax. Hope your weekend is awesome!
