September 11th, 2001 -- We Remember
SEPTEMBER 11, 2010 - We Still Remember
The Anniversary of the tragic events of September 11th are again on the TV and in conversations all over the USA. 2997 people died in a stupid attack against the people and freedoms of a nation that stood in horror as the events of that day unfolded. A great Nation, full of hero's and leaders, rallied together and mourned the lives lost and evil that was exhibited that day and over many months that followed.
We were drawn together in a way I have never seen and stood together holding each other up, praying and crying with one another. It was a painful time but it was a revealing time. The hate of extremist, radicals using the name of god to kill are long forgotten. Their names and intentions are mere memories 9 years later. But the hero's that stepped up in that moment of crisis will be remembered for all time. The lives that were lost that day are forever remembered and the many first response emergency workers that lost lives have become a long term picture of true heroism and have eternally marked our hearts with the deepest of gratitude and thanks!
We then started to go after the evil and went to foreign lands to fight back the evil that attacked our people on our soil. Nine years later it looks like people have little memory of that day - fighting over war issues and funding, forgetting that everything changed on September 11th, 2001. I wish we could put all the morons together that want to do nothing about these terrorist and give them a nice big place to hang out, free of any attachment to maintaining our freedoms and costs and protections. The bottom line - where the West is weak, the West is attacked. Typical of our diversity, many are blessed with the safety they have no respect for.
War casualties now exceed the 9.11 attacks and the wars are not over - just unpopular and unsupported by many of our shallow leaders in hopes of political control and power. So we set dates for exit from places that are a mess - think we are safe? I know many want to sit in a circle and sing Cum-by-ya (have no idea how to spell that) - ignore danger?? Great! Brilliant! If I can't see it - it is not there.
That is a babies mind. A baby will close it's eyes and think you can't see them. I believe we out grow that before 18 months! But it seems now, that many never out grow this perception.
Now we just stop the attacks and since that has so much less emotional connection, many feel safe and ignore views of danger as divisive. Funny how calling it out, saying what you see as real, is considered hate-munging and divisive in 2010. So many have been soooo afraid to speak up that we face bigger issues than terror attacks in 2010! I wish America would remember who we are, what we have done to get here and continue to stand for personal freedoms in the US and beyond!
Freedom has never been free! NEVER!!
On the 1 year anniversary of 9.11 I played a huge outdoor show with Rob Mullins in Riverside, California. Passions were high. Patriotism was real! America was standing together for a brief time!
Rob and I took the live performance of that performance and released it on a short CD called -
9.11 We Remember
I put the music to pictures a few year later and posted it on You Tube. Images come from fireworks shows, patriotic events I have performed at and other pictures I had on file. I went thru famous quotes from our founding Fathers and selected quotes that felt appropriate to the challenges we face in this new Century. Take a moment to remember the good that grew from the bad of that day. Remember those who lost their lives and say a prayer for the families and friends of 9.11 victims and servicemen and their families who have experienced the ultimate sacrifice of life for your continued freedom! This anniversary stands forever burned in the hearts and minds too! These wars stand forever in the thoughts of family and friends praying to one day see that serviceman again. (Mothers, Fathers, Daughters, Sons, Husbands and Wives - Cousins, Uncles, Aunts, friends, co-workers, school friends --- the connections, concerns, prayers and loss go on and on....)
All arguments aside - September 11th, 2001 was a difficult day - Today remembered as Patriots Day on the calendar. Let us pray for continued safety as a nation and a world of differences dance around topics of hate, tolerance and religion. God Bless America!
