12 Days!! I hate this BLOG thing because the first thing you see as you log in is how many days it has been since you last posted! It always makes me feel bad! To much going on and - as I always say - if you don't see a post, that's when there is actually stuff going on that I should be posting about. There is a little Twitter box that gets the phone updates for the recent stuff in bit sizes - and you can look thru the last few to see where the heck I am and why I am not posting, but who really cares that much???

SO - QUICK UPDATE - JUNE 14 - Vanessa Vail's Birthday!!! Today is my baby girl's celebration marking entry onto planet Earth and 11 is a BIG ONE. BIG because she is very excited and jumps up and down and squeals when she is really excited so we know it!

I had an amazing day yesterday putting her present together! The amazing part was the squeals when she say it - made Dad feel like I spent a million bucks and it really was more time and only a few bucks

I was on my Pro Jam gig on the 11th - handed my daughter the camera and told her watch the fountain! The birds love it in the afternoons! She took some beautiful pics on birds in the fountain and had us all pretty amazed that day. My friend Donna T saw the pics and said - you know - you should blow one of these up for her Birthday - young lady time - more grown up art for the walls!
Inspired and advised by my dear friend - I did a little cropping and layout for my daughter's pics - took them to Kinkos to do good paper and larger (11X17) - Target for frames and this is how they turned out. I will get a pic of them framed and mounted later -- 

     

I laid them out on white - followed design ideas I saw online for similar posters and they turned out great!! Wait to you see a pic of them framed!!

SHE LOVED THEM and I WAS SOOOO GLAD! Her friends seem to call her V V - initials for Van Vail.... When I called and told Donna - she got teary eyed! Very special all the way around.....

SO - BIRTHDAY in a little while - I have to finish and POST!!!!!

CHANGES????????????

My primary gig for 15 years all but ended when I was told my primary instrument was canceled!!!! Pretty amazing! I remember when the saxophone was considered the Devil's instrument along with loud guitars, rock drums and anything loud and upbeat. I have to say I was glad when my instrument of choice was added to the acceptable list in church!!! 

BUT NOW!!!! The tide has changed! The whole Orchestra was "given time off" and my instrument was CANCELED!!
I will be know as the Sax Player at Saddleback for ever - but I am no longer the sax player at Saddleback since that does not exist.

Pretty strange - but financially really hard. I had all but left Smooth Jazz years back and cut way back on outside work saying NO to people FOREVER. It will take a while to turn that corner and faith in God will be required at all new levels as we attempt to reestablish a YES where there had always been a NO!!

SO - just letting y'all know change has been coming and arrived for 2010!!
