These kids these days!!

Does anyone really care about excellence anymore? With a decent MAC and some software expertise anyone can play in tune and in time. Anyone can take 300 takes of a solo and pick each and every little "best" part and assemble a solo that sounds pretty good. If you have the money. You can hire someone like me to do it for you and it will make musical sense too!!

BUT - it is absolutely NO reflection on the talent of the performer - NONE AT ALL. It is only a reflection of the talent of the editor and if it is believable, the musicality of that individual.

In 2010 - MY First choice of music is live videos / DVDs and live CDs. Yes, we multitrack them and can go in and fix the pro recorded live shows after the fact, but there are limitations and overall, it is more real and more reflective of musical abilities.

For the poor musicians like myself, live clips are exactly that - LIVE and REAL. I don't have a single studio fix on any of the live clips I have on my YouTube. WOULD I HAVE if I COULD HAVE?? Probably - but it has never been an option. There are things that could have been fixed that were left because I am not in the mix sessions for these live clips that did have budgets - they are not my DVDs.

So - I start with a little rant at the youngsters releasing music as if they can play - and they often can not!

I just assembled on YouTube of LIVE VIDEO CLIPS from my Sax Video collection. I have 31 clips in the playlist right now covering all the saxophones, flute, EWI and various styles of music.

I wish I was perfect, but can also say, I am very proud of how I can play at this point in life and hope you might thumb thru and see what a live musician sounds like.
