New Column - Stories and Life - No Cold Water!!!
I had a friend that I needed to catch up with the other day on the phone and we talked for a couple of hours. I told her all the crazy stuff that goes on in my life and she asked why I never post any of the crazy stories. I told her I kind of do, but just as part of a post here or there and she told me I needed to break musician traditions and blog some of the goofy stuff too.
Well, I thought about it for a few days and agreed. If you look down a few posts you will see the story about getting locked in my house. It was pretty stupid and only took 2 1/2 hours to resolve. Of course I did go out the side door but had to resolve the front door not opening since I would be locked out if I closed a side door that automatically locks. SO - I was really trying to not be locked out - BUT was not able to open my front door - never mind - covered it last week.
SO - how about not having cold water for 4 days!!
I know that is "Impossible" but it happened! I turned on the shower, jumped in and was soon jumping around because the water was so hot it was burning my feet. I turned the knob toward the cold side until a drip fell from my shower head - there was NO COLD WATER! Yes I had already managed to get some soap on me and had to get a towel wet and hold it for a while to cool off before being able to get out of a freaky shower. I have to say I was not very refreshed from the experience.
It was the weekend and I don't keep normal hours - then work like crazy all weekend, so trying to remember to call and realizing no one would be around made this whole thing go a few days. I did see a sign on the wall that said they would be shutting off the water in the building for plumbing repair and I thought - good - someone called and we are getting cold water back.
Tuesday comes by and I see the plumber turning off the water. I tell him it's about time since we have not had cold water in days! He looks at me like I'm nuts!! He said the plumbing thing was not even for my building and he wondered why I never called. I was all - my next door neighbor did, but.....
He walks me around to the side of my neighbors unit and points to the wall - that is the cold water shut off!! Someone must have turned it off! He turned it on - a very easy to see and turn thing - and poof - cold water in the house after none for days!
I guess that cold water shut off only effects the front units. Who knew?? Not the stupid management company! I see my neighbor and she tells me SHE DID CALL and got told she had broke something and needed to call a plumber out. She added she was dealt with pretty rude! Now at least she was smarter than me, because at least she called someone!
When all was said and done - I had NO COLD WATER for 4 DAYS and nearly fried my hair off trying to get some kind of shower and it was a simple shut off on the front units.
UNBELIEVABLE! A week later I am locked IN MY HOUSE! My friend is laughing her butt off and kept saying, "You such an artist!" Then I started listing all the broke stuff in my house I just "deal" with - and she had to switch to "You such a guy!"
Welcome to my world..... Many things that others would never deal with - are just not that important when you have 40,000 things you really need to do with work, web or music......
