Greg Vail here in Virginia and it is cold! No snow. No wet stuff at all. Yet it is really cold. I went to Wallmart and got a real jacket the first night we were here. I guess I am a California boy, even looking across the parking lot. I have seen some kids in shorts and a light jacket and I have been cold in big ol jackets, so - California boy is walking around in a giant jacket and stands out as goofy I'm sure.
In Virginia for a CD recording. We did our first night of tracking and taping Friday night and it was really fun. The band is pretty much young guys from So Cal (and me...) The band is really good! The artist is amazing! Charles Billingsley is a great musician and he has the biggest heart. I really love this guy! The Church is Thomas Road Baptist and this church is rocking Virginia with strong growth at Liberty University and at the Church! There is great energy here! Can you tell I really like it!!
Today is Saturday and we went to Charles house to hang and got to see rough DVD footage of Fridays show. I was blown away! This night of worship at Thomas Road is really amazing. I was moved numerous times and will be waiting for the July release date to see and share this amazing night over and over.
They shot video and multi tracked the audio so the editing and mixing should allow an amazing end product. Now, we are recording again this Sunday night for TBN and that nights performance will be used for a television show for TBN networks. We will be playing a shorter version of Fridays taping since the TBN show will be an hour and the Friday show is said to be for a 2 hour live concert.
I was told the project will be released on Maranatha Music. Lots of new music co-written by Charles and Tommy Walker. CD and DVD releases? Bottom line - an amazing first night, more tracking tomorrow night, CD, DVD, great band, huge choir, major production, powerful worship that is very moving!
I can't wait to get this in hand!
We are playing Church services in the morning and have a 6 PM show tomorrow night. I fly home Monday and will get pictures sorted and posted Tuesday. This has been an awesome hang so far and I am so glad the powerful, passionate worship is recorded for blessing the church for years to come!!
Gotta hit the sack and get ready for an early morning service. Blessings,
