Hey Bloggers!

Been so busy lately it has been hard to get to the BLOG. I have some gigs coming up with preparation required! I don't have to do much prep for gigs and seldom take gigs that are real time consuming since time is money too, and the gigs don't usually come close to covering the time commitment with the money.

With an ever changing music business and economy overall, I have started taking some of the calls I might have ignored in the recent past. I have a new band that I have 20 songs I am working on learning and charts are a concept but none exist. 3 CDs of material and I have to say, the time thing is killing me. I like the music. It is basically Smooth Jazz in vibe. We'll have to wait and see if this was a good use of that valued commodity, TIME. Off to rehearsal with the Keyboard player in a few.

Then tomorrow, I have a session for a Worship CD that has tracks to listen too - and I have not even downloaded them yet.

Then Saturday night I am playing with a guy that I used to open for in the Christian Music scene 20 years ago - Daryl Mansfield. He is a talented and colorful rocker that I loved back in the day. They are supposed to be sending some tunes to hear before rehearsal Saturday morning. I look forward to this gig. Orange County Pavilion 8 PM.

That covers this week excluding the booking and gigging that is always on the schedule. I have Night Of Worship tonight and tomorrow night at Saddleback Church, a casual Friday Night for a good friends band and 6 services thru the weekend at Saddleback to do.

Preparation - Add a conference and live CD recording scheduled for after Valentines Day, back to back, and you start to see where I am feeling a little overwhelmed. I have a busy week next week and weekend with a Chick Fil-A Conference starting Sunday and going till Wednesday in Long Beach, with flights for Virginia later Wednesday to start rehearsal and record a live CD with Charles Billingsley. The recording with have me back in LA on the 24th and that is February! Both gigs have tons of emails with lots of charts and MP3's to review and prepare for and extra rehearsals.

See Greg and Charles in a You Tube Video that is, oddly enough, my most popular video with over 20k views so far.

I feel like I have transported back 20 years. I don't remember a time in the last 2 decades that the pile of music to learn was so big and it has been at least 10 years since the schedule filled up like this and just kept rocking!

Yes! I am very grateful and very excited about February! Amazing gigs, new music, my favorite worship leaders and a great paying travel gig - IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE YEAR!! That would be the most amazing thing! This is February! And it all started with the New Years gig in the Caribbean.

Gotta run - rehearsal time!
