Canouan Pictures - new Flickr

OK, I broke down! I can't help it! I saw these amazing pictures on my camera and then saw them blown up on my computer and was so blown away by the beauty of this Island. Then I edited, organized, downsized, thumb-em-ized and looked at the final upload and was totally let down.

We live in a world that presentation far exceeds content. It is so obvious, that I was bummed at the thumbs and large sizes and layout on that page. I redid the whole thing changing resolution, sizes, link colors and layout scheme and liked it better; better, but not much better.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I saw about 12 words. So - I broke down and started a Flickr account. I have no idea why I had avoided it until this time but I had. It was easy. Pictures looked great. The window size determined the picture size so your browser settings didn't seem to mess with the function - and they have this amazing Slide Show option that is beautiful!

So I broke down further and got the PRO version so I could add all the Pictures I want, Video too and paid for the dang thing, which was the very reason I had avoided a service like this because it was NOT NECESSARY. Well - I do have the gallery link in the next post that you can see the Sun Rise Pictures on my server - and/or you can view them on my new Flickr PRO account and view them in sets and in Slide Show mode with nice transitions between pics and various sizes available if you wanted to use one for a screen saver or something.

I think the comparison is obvious. I have - yet again - folded to the modern pressures dictated by presentation and would like to now say -------------------- ------------ -------------- ----------- ---------------- (dramatic lines lacking proper presentation)

Announcing the new Greg Vail Filckr Page! See the Sunrise in Canouan! Follow the band thru the sound check and New Years Eve with fireworks leading us into 2009!
