Problem with the CD

Sometimes life is really hard. Then there are the times that it seemed hard and you see it was nothing compared to now. I had that experience yesterday.

I only have a minute but wanted to share my failure with the entire world becuase that's what we blogging artists do, be real.

I have been working hard toward my May 25th release date due to a huge local radio station gig that seemed like a great time to introduce the CD to the world. As I got up yesterday, I started a long to do list for the release and concert requirements and got to work on the list right away.

My first task was to burn some CD copies for KSBR radio station, to be able to promote this weekends gig with my new CD, getting some serious air time in the deal. As I burned the first disc, I put it in a CD player to check it and started looking for a song list to copy for credit info for the station to know what was where and who was on it.

I pulled up the CD art and my file on the credits, and as I listened to the CD playing, started to wonder how I just heard 2 songs play that were not listed as being next to each other in my credits. I assumed the CD player was on random and tried to fix it.

It was not on random. I looked more at the file I had and the CD print art work and realized they where different lists. I then played thru the CD and found the list was the same as my list in the file I had for CD Credits on my computer, but the order of songs was not the same for the print art I had on file.

What I am trying to say is - I somehow screwed up and the music did not match the art work. I melted down for a good long time. I had to call the money guy, the producer and the manufacturing chick to expose my failure, because I needed to get to a resolution as fast as possible.

The CDs had not pressed yet but art work was long done. I ended up eating the first run of art, lost all that money for art work that is useless to me. I had the art fixed by days end and uploaded to the printer. New CD art sent to the plant. At this point it looks like I didn't loose all the money for the first run, but did have a really expensive day.

The issue is Sunday now and I can only pray that product shows up on Friday with everyone trying really hard to make it happen. I know I am lucky to have people still trying after I messed it all up. I just wish it was not sooooo hard to get stuff done right when you are trying to do sooooooo much by yourself!!

It was about the worst day I can remember in recent years. I do still have hope that the CD will be here for the show, but am still stunned by the problems that a one man operation can have.

Back to work....

    Hi Greg,

Sorry to hear you are having such a tough week. I had mine last week with the end of the spring semester and I was scrambling to get all my work in and studying for finals. I felt like a kicked dog when it was all over and I know what it feels like to totally mess up. I worked for weeks on a project for a class and the day I was to turn it in for grading, I realized I messed it up! Weeks down the drain. I redid it and had an extra day to get it handed in since I had finished it early. Scored the A, but it was tight!
Now, I know money wasnt involved in my situation and you have a lot of pressure. Just wanted you to know I can empathize to some degree with you. If you need any help making calls or running errands, let me know. I dont start my summer classes till next week and I am local, as you know. Hang in there! Its going to be great and it will sell like crazy on Friday at the B Bash!
    God bless~

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I know we all have them. I just wish they didn't come in the dozens. Used to think they came in 3's. Now I wonder if they come in either dozens or if 3's refers to the number of years??

Glad your paper got in and graded so well! Thanks for your offer of help and kind spirit. Continued blessings to you and yours,

      Greg
