Smooth Jazz Classics CD
The NEW CD by Greg Vail - Smooth Jazz Classics is well on its way to getting done. I have hopes for a December 2007 release, but have too much invested to rush the project and release a less than amazing CD!
Tony Guerrero and I worked today on a great track - The "In" Crowd by Ramsey Lewis. Tony tracked me on Alto Saxes and I tracked him on some Trumpet today. The track sounds amazing!
Melvin Davis is one slamming Bass Player and his track is off the hook! Gannin Arnold played an amazing Guitar solo that I just love and the groove is very funky and cool. This might well be the first single for this CD! It will take a lot to change my mind since every element of this track scream Radio Hit!
What is done - 4 tracks with Bass and Guitar, and all saxes. I might want to do some horn section or additional harmonies, and I will be listening to the tracks to see if anything seems lacking.

Gotta run. I have Church services, a club gig, and then have to pack for the Catalina Jazz Festival for a 6:15 AM boat out to the Island. I'm playing with David Pack, old lead singer for Ambrosia tomorrow on the Island!
