Well, it's a new day and a new month. Bobby Cruz and I had a long call today to discuss the project and get back to work on it. We have much we can do before any money would need to be spent on production, players or manufacturing. I want to get this Gospel Hymns CD as ready and 'in the can' as we can, so, when some finance is available, we are weeks away from finishing and not months away. Seems to make sense to me.
The issues of a recording project being recorded at 2 different studios at the same time are many. Which tempo did we agree on. Where do the primary files belong. Are there soft synth sounds that are only available on 1 or the other system. We can't print tracks until I am certain the tempo and drum programming is a keeper. Once the basic track and tempo are in stone, I can start doing sax leads, solos, parts and backgrounds. If I start recording audio and invest the time for performance tracks, and the tempo gets adjusted because we added a bongo loop that pushed the track a little faster and was a huge improvement, but now makes the sax tracks totally unusable.
You have to do things in a logical order or you end up having to redo a lot of stuff. Have you ever started assembling some piece of cheap furniture, just to find that you needed to get the sides on before the back, and now you have to take stuff off and start over? I have. Many times!
That kind of mistake might cost you 10-20 minutes. Recording print quality sax parts for a full song could take a day or 2. To loose that time is a real drag and deadline killer.
So.... We are trying to get things back on track. Get everything better organized and get this CD as finished as we can, while waiting for the needed cash to finish it.
That's the plan. I always say, "Put a picture on the wall if you want to make something happen!" I'm posting this for me. I am going to get this CD done and out this year! It has been in the works too long. I'm excited about the project and hope to start posting some working tracks soon so you can hear the progress also.
Blessings to all,
