Down time

I have been dealing with some life stuff this week. I had a tooth that lost a filling and then started to break up over the past year or so and last Friday a piece broke off leaving a very sharp edge and the need to finally make the time to visit the dentist.

I had been avoiding this and it was a bit overwhelming. I had to undergo a Root Canal yesterday, 2 fillings replaced Tuesday and now have to go back to the dentist for the crown and cleaning.

The most amazing thing has been the cost. I have not paid for anything and it looks like I am being covered for the whole thing. It is all very amazing.

The story is - I was at Church Sunday with a bandage on my finger and a friend asked what happened - I think it was sponge bob or something like that because my daughter always picks which ones we have at the house. I had my daughter with me and she blurted out, "My Dad's tooth broke and he cut his finger all up on it!" I had juts been telling people that it got a little cut on it.

After a few people asked about it, I thought it was all done. I would try and find a dentist on Monday and it would be a drag, but what are you gonna do? It's life.

I got a call Monday morning from a good friend in the Church Orchestra asking if she could make an appointment for me with a girl that is also in the Orchestra and I said sure. That was easy because I could check it off the to do list first thing!

My friend called back and gave me my appointment time, the next day and I thanked her. I went in and had ex rays, the sharp edge sawed off, found I had broken fillings and I was going to need to see a specialist for a root canal. The dentist went ahead and replaced the 2 fillings the next day, called the specialist and got me an appointment for Thursday.

I went out after the fillings and reminded them that I don't have insurance with my checkbook in hand, and she said it was fine; go home and get some rest. I thought maybe my friend and the dentist from the orchestra had worked something out but was really unsure.

I went in for the root canal and it went so much easier than I had ever heard before. 1 visit and it was done. I went to the counter and saw a bill for over a grand and was starting to think thru payment options when the nurse took the bill and said it was taken care of. Now I was a little loopie both times but started thinking someone was totally taking care of me with this.

I didn't want to call and drill my friend on what was going on but really was hoping to find out as soon as possible. As it worked out, she called to check up on my recovery and I told her I didn't get a bill for either visit. She said it was covered. I stumbled around a question or two and she said a few of my friends at Saddleback had come together to help get my teeth fixed. She assured me it was not all her doing but a few people paying for these bills.

I was stunned and humbled by this once again. Over my life. I have had many experiences of God's love, shown in real, tangible people with skin on, during great times of need. When I was a kid, I had a major sax repair needed on my Grand Dad's old junker sax. It was 105.00 and was were pretty dang poor. We did not have the money, but my mom, being a woman of real faith, told them to do the repairs and we would figure something out with the payment. That Sunday, an anonymous gift was handed thru the pastor to my mom of 100.00. The next day I got a graduation card with 5 dollars in it. God is good and I was totally blown away!

Well, I'm no longer a child and here I am with work slowing down and some big expenses, and no money for this potential disaster. I am soooo very blessed! God is good and my teeth will be set for years to come!

I don't mean to get all preachy or anything. I am just feeling very blessed and wanted to share that story with you-all. Thanks to those that are around me that love and give so freely! Many blessings in return...

We are blessed to be a blessing. If you are aware of the blessings in your life, look for someone this Christmas season to bless from your blessings. If you are not aware - take a look!! They are everywhere!
