So Greg, What have you been doing?
Well, I have a few emails from people wondering what's up again. Funny thing about my web activity is it is all very sparratic. I have so many things to mention, but little time. I tend to get behind and then not even drop in with a quick post.

See this pretty girl? Shannon Kennedy! This is a possible, working copy of the CD Cover for her new CD, Steppin Up. I have been talking about this CD for a while now and we are about 70% done with it at this time. You can learn more about Shannon's music and read some of her great interviews and articles at
www.teenjazz.com or from her personal music site
www.shannon-kennedy.com This is gonna be a hot one.
So - other news.
Soundclips blew up all over
www.gregvail.com late last week requiring many to be resampled and moved to
www.gregvail.com side server at
www.Saxophone.USThis should mean nothing to any of you but took a full 3 days of my life to get the samples made, edited, and changed out on dozens of pages over a few web sites. They are good now and I think I'm done with it all.
Any bad clips on my sites - PLEASE WRTIE AND TELL ME. Then I can fix-em

So - gigging a bit; not enough but thank God I'm working!

I can clean up too. Just thought I'd add an image or 2 to make my point. I have had a sax in my hands alot lately.
Cool gigs - The most interesting thing we did was a Instrumental Rock night in one of our fine local Jazz Clubs in So Cal. I had started rehearsing with some buddies from Saddleback 1 day a week and they like doing unussual stuff but with no singer, the songs end up being instrumental and more Rock orriented. Fun for our little rehearsal but I decided we should go public.
We debued at Cavallino in Huntington Beach 2 weeks ago as "Skipping Stones"
Rock, but with a smooth edge.
Members include Mike Parsons on Guitar, Mike Pelzman on Keys, Ron Robertson on Drums and Gordon Rustvold on Bass with me doing Sax and EWI. Songs from the Yellow Jackets, Toto, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Pat Metheny, Grover Washington, the Police..... You get the idea. Pretty dang eclectic, and people loved it!
We had a number of local Jazz and Rock heros come down and sit in and the room was packed all night long. This is pretty amazing in Orange County during the week. We will see where this goes, but for now -
Skipping Stones will be back at Cavallino's Thursday night, November 30th, 7-11 PM.
Greg Vail Jazz will also be there Thursday October 26th. Not to worry, the Jazz is not gone, just swinging a bit less for now but rockin all the harder.
Well - I exceeded my alloted time to post for today. I have a friends website that needed an update, new soundclips and all - so back to work -
peace out - SAXBOY
