Time for a rant
I only have a minute but feel the need to rant for a bit.
I live in a Condo in Southern California. With the condo comes all the evils of close living with stupid people. Recently we had a change in rent-cop security. The new company is very small, no information is found online and the are armed and nasty.
With this new security came the need to re distribute parking passes (for the 3rd time in too few a months). Now for the background, I need to rabbit-trail on to another rant. My Suburban had been modified by 4 Wheel Auto Parts. I had a performance Gibson exhaust and, what I thought was a K&N intake installed. The air intake was in a box with K&N marked as the maker and it did have a K&N filter inside the housing. Now I never got these mandatory CARB stickers to get smogged in California at the time of purchase and that left me in trouble and sitting on the phone with the manufacturers to get the truck smogged.
At that time I found out that 4 Wheel was making these intakes and using K&N filters, putting it in a K&N box. Pretty lame but whatever. It seemed to work well.
Rant 3 for background - I had a guy back into me in a parking lot wasting my drivers door. When the repair was done the door had to be repainted and they either removed or painted over the CARB tags because 4 Wheel had put them on the inside, side of the door once they finally arrived. I did not realize I had no tags again until I was too smog the truck again this past MAY.
Once I realized I was in trouble again I started the process again to get tags sent. Gibson was easy and professional. 4 Wheel was no longer at that location and I was on the phone with K&N. They sent me the forms to request the tags and there was no part number or part that matched what I had. We ran around and around and it was such a mess that I ended up replacing the intake with the real K&N intake so I could get the CARB decal and get smogged. This after 2 trips to the DMV for extensions, waiting in lines just to get more time. I was not happy. Eventually the new intake was in, the old intake was in the trash and the truck smogged right a way.
When the smog is done the smog place sends in the information on the computer and registration tags are sent. I met the deadline and was waiting.
In the meantime, the association had set dates for new parking tags to be distributed and they gave us a weekend and then the following Thursday night. Of course I worked all weekend and had to go Thursday. I get there and end up waiting for 2 1/2 hours to get thru this amazing line with one fowl mouthed rent-a-cop sitting at a table and one guy sticking the tags on our cars (because it requires an MBA).
By the time I get to the table I ask the guy what he was thinking with a line this long and he said "We had 4 people come in all weekend and I'm not about to give these F---in people any more of my time." So, fowl mouthed, racist (I live in a very Mexican area) and rude. I asked why he thought this line was OK and told him waiting nearly 3 hours was absurd. He told me I should have come on the weekend.
I gave him all me records, registration, insurance, address, phone number and who knows what else, and he proceeded to tell me that the Impala was good, but the registration and tags are bad on the Suburban and he was not giving me tags for it till it was registered. I had the extensions and explained everything but no deal. What he said was not to worry, he would put it on a safe list until tags arrived. Fine, I had 1 car tagged and the other was going to be OK, and I only wasted a whole night because he sucked.
August 1st comes and they ticket tons of cars with Notice Of Violation. My Suburban was ticketed and stated that I was in violation - NO PERMIT/INVALID PERMIT - the car info there and that was it. There was NO statement of what to expect, what the consequences where, how long you had to deal with the violation before some action would be taken against you, which was not stated. It was a very lame ticket type thing that said nothing more than "Bad Boy!"
August 2nd I was returning home late and find the complex almost empty of cars. I see the tow trucks drive by with more cars they are towing and I realize I might have a problem. Since I thought I was on a SAFE LIST I did not get real concerned with the August 1st notice. As I realized they where towing hundreds of cars, I found my notice and called the head rent-a-cop at Independent National Security - 1442 E, Lincoln Ave, STE. 332, Orange CA., 92856 - 866.996.6990.
Within minutes I was informed that he had never said there was a SAFE LIST and I too would be towed if I did not move the track out of my parking space and off property because it had no parking permit. I knew this was the same sweet man I had dealt with getting my tags and things escalated at a rapid rate. He accused me of threatening him and his officers, blew off there credits and went on to tell me they where armed and ready and they use caller ID and tape every incoming call. I was livid by this point and stated my name clearly for the tape with address and all.
In 2 encounters this man and his company had broken federal law - It is illegal to record any conversation without telling the other party prior to recording, and it is a federal crime, not stealing a piece of candy here. He lied about a SAFE LIST and then denied ever having said that or anyone working for him ever saying that, even to the point of using those words while on the job. He is a 2 faced racist - He laid into me for using the S word and played Mr. Self Righteous when he had been totally fowl, rude and racist in his remark, using the F word and pointing at all the Mexicans still in line.
I could go on and on because it really bothered me, but I'll move on.
I was told to move my truck now or it would be towed. It was now about 2 AM and off I go to move my truck from my house to the street outside. I get out there and there are no spots anywhere. The complex was empty and the street outside was parked to the point of illegal red curbs and many parked at the market which has NO OVERNIGHT PARKING - TOW notices too.
I ended up at across the street in another community and a long walk back at now 2:30 AM. A busy work day left me no time to deal with this the next day and I had my friend drop me off at my house so I could unload my truck and take my truck home so it would be safe for the night.
Friday morning I got picked up with my truck, ran an errand and went to the DMV. 2 hours later I had registration and tags for the truck with no explanation as to why I did not get them in the mail. I then had to go home a deal with Mr. armed and dangerous to schedule an officer putting parking tags on the truck. 1 1/2 hours later and most of another day wasted, I had parking stickers and no late night walk scheduled.
Is it done? Well, one neighbor never got the notice and the parking violation did not say she would be towed 24 hours later and one old lady down the street has been out of town most the year and of course was towed. The evil witch that runs the association is also on the management company, running this complex. Maybe a little conflict of interest and possible fund questions. With NO time limit or action listed I believe the towing was in violation of the law. All this to say, Pam Hunt, Transpacific Management, Independent National Security and a bunch of lame Tow truck companies will have some legal issues coming soon. Something ain't right here and there are way too many attorneys listed in Association law to let this one sit. Can anyone say Class Action?
I must remove my war paint and get ready for a gig.
Peace out...
