Where have I been???

Why does it seem like every time you try and get going with things that feel more important, the world blows up in your face?

The quick answer as to where I have been is without blog log in information. I had my main computer blow up a couple weeks ago. It was in the shop for a while and then sent to another shop to try and recover data from 2 drives that lost all partitions and became completely inopperative. Then I got the call with the bad news and more days were lost with me needing to settle down and accept the loss rather than just be mad. From there the system had to be rebuilt and I had to then pay for it upon pick up, start to reload programs, catch up on everything I was behind on and get back to functional in my little office here.

Among the many missing files are my bookmarks, which left me with no login URL for the blog until today when I called, waited and got lead to the page that I could not find to get logged on. You can see this, so I am back on here.

My lesson is a hard one and too often must be learned with great loss, by each individual to be understood and acted upon.

BACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP!!!!!!!

The physical loss of time and frustartion involved trying to rebuild a system is enough to deal with, but when including the depression over all the lost data from an important business system - it can add weeks to the self butt kicking and saddness.

I have a 2 gig flash drive now, which I will try to keep current every few days with the day to day, very important data. I have 2 Western Digital 300 gig drives and have decided to replace them because the tech mag editor I have been talking to has had them blow up at 6 weeks and 6 months, for the 2 he had. It seems Maxtor has a great on button back up external that is easy to use and lives for a while.

My experience with the Western Digital is bad so far. I could not figure out the "Easy to Use" back up function. I just wanted to back up a computer and it took me hours of looking at, reading, checking forum and blog info, to get the dang thing to do a basic backup. I HATE products that claim to be easy to use and make you feel like an idiot. I tend to bash them and attempt to cost the makers as much as I possibly can in lost sales. My take is - NO - NEVER AGAIN - Western Digital is over rated and hyped, and really sucks!

OK - DONE.

So, today I finally got to the end of one more issue caused by a computer blowing up and can once again get online, get to the BLOG server and post my mindless thoughts.

FYI - The NEW CD is moving slow but taking shape.
The websites are all on hold until I can get the software working, ftp up, and upload all the files off the servers so I can work on them again.
Since the last entry, I was on America's Got Talent, link is at www.gregvail.com home page, I have Amazon and other NEW Store options for CDs at Greg Vail .com and updated the Catalog, also adding a new Greg Vail Music link off the catalog to better explain buying CDs from my site. Sales are up since the changes and that is encouraging.

I must get back to the business at hand. I was just excited knowing I could get something on the BLOG today.

Blessings to all,

SAXBOY Greg
